As a generator maintenance technician at Tacoma Diesel & Equipment, Inc. in Tacoma, you will work with a team of generator specialists who are committed to doing quality work each and every day. As a generator maintenance technician your work will include routine service, emergency repair, engine and generator maintenance programs, and more. You will work on all of the brands for which we are an authorized, full-service dealer: Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Kohler, Perkins, and Yanmar diesel and gaseous generators, and related equipment.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Full Time: 40+ Hours with overtime
Signing Bonus: Upon hire DOE

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on standby generator systems 5 KW-2000 KW

• Inspect, repair, service and load bank test requirements on equipment, as required

• Able to troubleshoot equipment utilizing test equipment tools, service manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics

• Able to troubleshoot and repair AC and DC equipment and controls. This may include voltage regulators, battery chargers, ATS, switchgears, and more.

• Control costs by evaluating warranty, parts and service repair options

• Consistently provide excellent customer service

• Self-motivated, team player with strong attention to detail

• Work safely and proficiently with minimal supervision

Experience and Qualification Requirements

• Minimum experience: 2 years in the power generation industry

• Knowledge or ability to learn automatic transfer switches and control logic

• Able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and random drug tests

• Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record. Either have or be willing to purchase US passport for travel

• Must provide your own set of hand tools (including VOM, etc.)

• Great interpersonal, communication and organization skills including intermediate or higher computer skills

• Flexibility to travel for overnight or extended time to complete work

• 07 Electrical License a plus.
